“I have to pass this along. It was September 14, 2018 this was a very sad day. As many of you may remember there was a hurricane that came through the eastern part of North Carolina, it also was the last night I was able to see our Daughter. She passed away that same night about 11:45pm, she was 42-year young with Three of the most beautiful little girls. This was a very sad time in our lives but with the strength of our God and our family and friends we were comforted with all their love and support.
We were in Raleigh and I received a call from my next-door neighbor down at the beach. He said that a tornado had touched down at my place and destroyed 4 or 5 big trees and one of them fell on my boat that was on my boat lift at that time. He did not know about our daughter. We explained everything to him. That we would not be able to return for a week or so. About 3 days later he calls me to tell me that Mike (Optima Grading) had stopped by to see if he or anyone needed any help, at that time John told them that he did not have any damage, But he showed him my mess and explained to him about my daughter. Something touched him (Mike Bartolomeo) he asked John to give me a call and ask me if it would be all right if he got the trees off the boat. John called and told me what he said. At this point I asked John if he would pay him and I would pay John back. How much, this guy would not take a dime. He did leave a card with John. A few days later my wife and I went down to check things out. John came out and gave me the card.
This was a blessing from God. I called the phone # on the card and this nice voice answered. I went on to explain who I was, he asked me all about our daughter and if he could ever help me in any way to let him know. Then I realized he was still working at the beach. At this point we talked about removing more trees, he said he would meet me to take a look at what I wanted to do. I had him take our other trees and clean up. I DIDN’T THINK HE WAS GOING TO TAKE ANY MONEY! So, I said if you will let me pay you, you got this job, he smiled and said thank you.
