From small round rings to large riding arenas, both covered and open we use laser guided measurements to ensure your arena has proper drainage and minimal maintenance required. The arena footing material we use is natural sandrock which provides a safe and stable footing for your riding. Our sandrock footing is easy to drag for maintenance and we also offer arena maintenance. If you need an existing arena re-topped with our footing, we do that as well. Our footing out performs the granite “screenings” commonly used. We offer edging options like railroad ties if desired. If no edging is desired, our grade will match the shoulders of the arena for proper drainage and years of durability. References are available.

Proper drainage is a problem for many equestrian or horse properties that were built without proper planning by an inexperienced contractor or even the property owner themselves. Not understanding the lay of the land and utilizing geography to your advantage, poor construction practices, and poor material selections can leave a property owner extremely disappointed with their investment. Optima Land Services has the equipment and the knowledge to plan and build your riding arena or riding ring so that poor drainage won’t be a problem. Starting with the proper stable soils and base grading to the top footing layer, we guarantee proper drainage and performance for years of enjoyment on your new riding arena.
Your Equestrian Arena & Proper Materials
There are several layers that go into the construction of riding arena or equestrian arena. If built on unsuitable/unstable expansive soils, drainage and arena performance will never be satisfactory. Ensuring stable sub soil and grading practices prior to topping the footing layer is extremely important. We take every aspect from arena placement/planning to top footing layer into consideration and provide you with the best possible performing arena.
The final and very important choice is going to be your top layer or “footing”. It is common in our area for riding arenas to be topped with “screenings” which is a granite material from a quarry. This is not the best choice for your arena footing. It is difficult to maintain, compacts and tends to hold storm water. We use a locally sourced product called “sandrock” that we have a source of very high quality. We choose the best possible area of our source with the correct consistency for years of enjoyment on your arena. While many of our local competitors will just use a readily available screening product or sub standard grade of sandrock, we always opt for the best materials available.
